The Mayflower Ensemble is committed to the performance of high-quality chamber music from various genres. As well as programming core works for clarinet, cello and piano the group strives to introduce audiences to lesser-known works and diverse composers. The Southampton-based group has received support from the John Ireland, GEMMA Classical Music and Francis Routh Trusts. Performances include concert series at Music at Beaulieu, Romsey Festival and Chichester Cathedral.
Samantha Carrasco studied at the Royal College of Music. She performs as a recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral pianist with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Samantha is Head of Keyboard at Peter Symonds College, Winchester and works as an examiner, trainer and moderator for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Alison Hughes studied clarinet performance at the University of Leeds and RNCM. With chamber ensembles she has won awards from Tunnell Trust and Live Music Now. Orchestral positions include State of Mexico Symphony and Malta Philharmonic. Alison is Principal Clarinet with the Orchestra of Sound & Light and works regularly with the BSO.
The cellist Nicola Heinrich attended Munich’s Richard Strauss Conservatoire and Indiana University School of Music. She performs in the UK and internationally as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician – including with Bielefelder Philharmoniker and Playlist Collective. Nicola teaches at Winchester College and the University of Southampton.
