Walking for Hope…

This is me with a friend just before the Hatter’s Half Marathon in Stockport. (I’m the one in the white top. I was also the slower one).

Hi! I’m Daniela. I am part of the marketing team at Turner Sims, which is Wessex Cancer Trust’s Community Partner. This is how I found out about Walk for Hope.

I’ve done a couple of half marathons and I regularly write funding applications, but I’ve never run to fundraise before. So, I’m going to start small and walk 5 miles for a good cause. I will be joined by my colleague Jilly Evans from the box office.

Walk for Hope is slightly different this year, allowing everyone to walk wherever they like on the 6th of September, so we will be walking ‘together’ remotely. As I live in Manchester and Jilly is in Southampton, we might just be the team with the biggest geographical stretch.

That’s enough about us… here’s some more information about Wessex Cancer Trust, so you know how your donation can help.

Wessex Cancer Trust helps and supports anyone affected by cancer regardless of age, gender or type of cancer. Every year around 23,000 people are diagnosed with cancer within the Wessex region.

Whilst Wessex Cancer Trust’s support centres are currently closed for the safety of clients, staff and volunteers, they have introduced a telephone support service and set up an online support group. They’ve introduced online resources, including videos and helpful advice, streaming classes and meditation and offering telephone counselling. Their transport services are still running, with increased precautions for clients. Wessex Cancer Trust are still here for the community.

Please do consider making a donation to help them through this uncertain time and thank you for continuing to support families through cancer.
