MAX RICHTER: THE FOUR SEASONS RECOMPOSED

First heard at London’s Barbican Centre in 2012, Max Richter’s Four Seasons Recomposed, his iTunes classical chart-topping interpretation of the Vivaldi classic, premieres here at Turner Sims, Southampton, in a concert by són, the city’s professional orchestra.

Famed for his soundtrack to the recent BBC hit Taboo, Richter takes Vivaldi’s masterpiece as the starting point of a work described as ‘a startling musical transformation…drifting ambient soundscapes and monumental walls of sound’.

Violinist Thomas Gould is the soloist for Four Seasons Recomposed. Leader of the world-renowned Britten Sinfonia, and one of the UK’s foremost interpreters of contemporary music, Gould has been described by The Guardian as ‘one of the new generation of classical musicians’.

Read Thomas’ one-to-one interview with són’s artistic director Robin Browning ahead of his performance at Turner Sims in The Four Seasons Recomposed on Friday 28 April here.
