Intern Insights: good luck, Megan!

We have so enjoyed having our Concert Promotions Intern, Megan Harrison in the office. She has made her mark in six short weeks and helped us prepare for the busy season ahead! She recaps her experience at Turner Sims here…

I’ve had an amazing time working at Turner Sims. I’m very grateful to the team for giving me this incredible opportunity.

I’ve gained experience in advertising, particularly marketing for students. I have made student oriented content, such as writing a blog about my playlist for the autumn season and making a student centred e-mail, highlighting free tickets for young people and student prices. Meeting lots of prospective students at one of the open days also helped me gauge what kind of music students are interested in.

I was able to think about other audience groups at Turner Sims during marketing planning meetings with the team. It was really interesting to be at one of Turner Sims’s rebranding workshops and to see the new direction the venue’s communications are going in. It gave me a greater understanding of the team’s intentions when it comes to reaching a wider audience.

One of my favourite parts of the internship was helping out at Summer Family Day, which was an incredibly fun, vibrant day. It was amazing to see so many families come together to enjoy the event.

I particularly enjoyed writing blogs, such as my aforementioned Autumn Season playlist and my recap of Summer Family Day (and this blog too!). They were a lot of fun to do and it was particularly satisfying seeing my blogs up on the website.

I learned a lot about scheduling content for social media accounts through managing Turner Sims’ Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I’ve also improved my communication skills, as I’ve liaised with both agents, magazines and listings websites. I enjoyed researching different artists and creating interview questions for them – I can’t wait to see their answers!

Now that I’m gone, stay tuned for Turner Sims 2024 Autumn Season!
