Introducing the new Jazz South Interns

Megija Petinena

Hello, I am really excited that you are currently reading this page. Let me introduce myself. My name is Megija Petinena. I am a Second year English and Music student at the University of Southampton. Growing up in a small Eastern European country, Latvia, whose culture is mixed between modern West and classic East, my vision of Jazz music is quite unique. During this internship I am going to share it.

The stage is my second home – I have performed different genres of music (starting from Classical to Pop) and Jazz is the one I enjoy the most. I am full of enthusiasm to continually increase my knowledge and that’s why I applied for the Marketing Internship at Jazz South. The ability to work with a team of experienced professionals that are passionate about their work is going to be a fantastic experience towards my future goals.

Fasten your seatbelt and let’s start my journey.

As a pianist and lover of live concerts, I am very excited for this opportunity to develop and promote such an amazing genre of music across the South. Having had experience as previous Head of Music for Surge Radio, I look forward to furthering my knowledge and skills as a Jazz South social media and marketing intern. I am eager to learn more about the jazz sector, and encourage students and members of the public to make the most of the live concerts and gigs on show at the Turner Sims.
