MISSION (ALMOST) IMPOSSIBLE ACCEPTED
Build the Future of Space, Sustainably

Dr Stephen Wokes, Chief Engineer, Astroscale UK

How to achieve End of Life Satellite Management, Active Debris Removal, Life Extension and Space Situational Awareness (SSA) through Technology, International Collaboration and Viable Economics.

Hosted by The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) – Solent Branch

We depend on space every day and, thus, it is vital that its future is built sustainably.

That is technically extremely challenging. In-orbit servicing company Astroscale is focused on meeting those technical challenges to ensure space is sustainable for future generations. Their current and future missions are progressively demonstrating precise approach to space debris, its capture, and its rendering safe by lowering its orbit.

Dr Stephen Wokes is Astroscale UK’s Chief Engineer, working on one of the world’s most ambitious global space programmes. An astrodynamics specialist, his expertise is fundamental to putting in place the UK’s contributions to Astroscale’s programmes, progressively developing and demonstrating the capability of in-orbit servicing and active debris removal.

With Astroscale UK’s Mission Operations and Ground Systems capabilities based at Harwell in Oxfordshire, the team are responsible for some of the most exciting current space development programmes in a rapidly growing in-orbit servicing industry.
