Turner Sims Arts Administrator, permanent part-time

Turner Sims is the University of Southampton’s music venue, with big ambitions to build an inclusive world through the joy of live music. We are transforming from a respected concert hall to a dynamic creative hub for music that connects communities locally and globally through the joy of live music, and our mission is to share music that connects, moves and inspires people through extraordinary experiences at our venue and beyond.

We are looking to appoint a second part-time Arts Administrator to work alongside our current colleague. These essential posts provide comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support for the day-to-day activities of Turner Sims. Our Arts Administrators work together to liaise with artists’ agents, technical support, venue hirers, customers and staff to provide administration for Turner Sims events, including promoted concerts, engagement activity and hires, and work collaboratively within the Turner Sims team to ensure their successful delivery.

The successful candidate will be able to apply a comprehensive understanding of relevant University systems and procedures and make effective use of standard office computer systems including word-processing and spreadsheets. They will confidently plan and prioritise their workload coordinating numerous high-profile events over a period of months. They will relish working collaboratively, listening and communicating, and valuing the views of others, and show a commitment to diversity, equality, inclusion and making arts and culture accessible to all.

Experience of working with the public, in particular within an arts organisation, is desirable, along with an understanding of how concerts and events are planned and managed.

Hours will be worked on Mondays and Fridays, with one additional day to be scheduled in agreement with the successful applicant. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend working may be required to fulfil the needs of the organisation.

Turner Sims is part of the University of Southampton’s Arts and Culture Department (along with the John Hansard Gallery), within the Engagement and Advancement Directorate.

We are committed to equality of opportunity in employment and encourage applications from all sections of the community.
