Join us at Turner Sims from 11am – 4pm on Sunday 24 November for Winter Family Day – a cosy day of musical fun for all ages! Bring your littlest people to our Musical Circus, bring your loudest voice and your dancing feet to a Singing Party, and stay on for David Gibbs and his brilliant Family Jukebox. There’s drop-in craft in the foyer all day long, you can chill out in our calm Sensory Space – and of course, you can get your face painted!
Musical Circus
Step right up to A Musical Circus – a unique baby and toddler-friendly concert where professional musicians (oboe, cor anglais, clarinet, recorder, and piano) create a magical atmosphere for you and your little one. Swing on a musical trapeze, walk a tightrope, and explore the sounds of the circus. This interactive show is designed for babies and toddlers aged 0-3 to enjoy in their own way – sit, move, cuddle, dance, or even nap. It’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce your little ones to live classical music in a relaxed, inclusive environment that stimulates young minds and creates lasting memories.

Join David Gibb on a musical journey! His hilarious imagination will take you to where sunflowers dance and sing, teddy bears dance the night away at the disco and you never know when you might find a dragon in your bedroom. Featuring guitar, piano, electric bass and double bass, David’s songs blend folk, jazz, reggae and rock and roll! Guaranteed to have both parents and children singing along in no time, this is music that the whole family can enjoy together.

Drop-in Craft
Take a break from music in the auditorium and join us for some crafts in the foyer. This artist-led free workshop will run all day, so drop in for a quick craft stop, or stay for a while to perfect your masterpiece. All the materials are provided, just bring along your family and your creative flair!

Sensory Space
Our Winter Family Day will be buzzing with music and activity. For those that would like to express themselves in a calmer and quieter environment, the University of Southampton Centre for Music Education and Social Justice have created a sensory space which will offer you just that. This is designed for children with additional needs (for example Autism and ADHD) and their families, but if you feel that you or your child will benefit from this space, you are welcome, no questions asked.
