Most websites use cookies in order to improve user experience by enabling the website to ‘remember’ the user, either for the duration of their visit (using a ‘session cookie’) or for repeat visits (using a ‘persistent cookie’).
A cookie is a simple text file that is stored on a computer or mobile device by a website’s server; only that server will be able to retrieve or read the contents of that cookie. Each cookie is unique to a web browser. It will contain some anonymous information such as a unique identifier and the site name and some digits and numbers. It allows a website to remember things like user preferences.
Cookies help us secure your information, provide an online booking service and enhance user experience. For example, we use ‘analytics’ cookies to understand what users like and don’t like about our website so that we can improve content across the site.
The Turner Sims website uses a variety of cookies, which are detailed below.
Throughout our website, we link to external websites that will have their own cookie policies. We encourage you to read their policies. Turner Sims and the University of Southampton are not responsible or liable for their privacy practises.
Necessary cookies enable core functionality such as security and required services. Our box office system provider, Spektrix, uses necessary cookies to allow the system to function correctly on our website. These temporary session cookies enable you to access your online account and purchase tickets and memberships. They are removed once you have logged out. All of Spektrix’s web traffic runs through Cloudflare to protect your information. It is not possible to purchase anything on the Turner Sims website without accepting the following cookies.

Analytics Cookies help us understand how people use our website and identify what works and doesn’t work. Most web pages contain a Google Analytics tracking code to record anonymous information about the date and time of your visit, the type of browser used, approximate geographic location and the URL of any page that led to Turner Sims’ website. The information is aggregated and used by us to identify usage trends on our site and to make decisions about which content or presentation styles are most effective.
This tracking is used by our box office system, Spektrix, to support various business and software functions, including informing about queue management and activity levels.
